Looking For Advice On A Gym

March 13, 2014 by No Comments

Hello there! I’m looking to get into shape once more and I’m starting to look at gyms, but I’m looking for helpful opinions on the matter. I use to be a amateur MMA and BJJ competitor, but after I retired I haven’t worked out in almost three years. And on top of that, while I know how to choose a good MMA gym, I’m not sure about a regular fitness gym. There are three I’m looking at right now that have caught my attention.

Charter Fitness of Homer Glen, IL | Charter Fitness

The first would be Charter Fitness. There’s some definite pro’s to this place. It’s a mere 3 minutes away from my house. The price is right at $20 a month. But it looks like it could be a run of the mill strip mall gym. And on top of that, I’ve always had a hard time getting motivated to work out. When I was competing, I always had a coach telling me what to do and it worked out great and I saw results. With this gym, it looks like I’ll need to be self motivated.

The second is Anytime Fitness. I work a lot, so one bonus is that the gym is 24/7 which means I can work out whenever. They also have P90X classes which is something I’m interested in. I have contacted them about prices, but they haven’t gotten back to me yet. This one is relatively close as well, but farther then the first gym.

Here’s the third and final gym. This one kind of interests me. Does not look like a regular gym. They seem to have their own style of work out though, and have classes for that work out. Not a big, fancy place at all, but I’m more concerned with results and not so much frills. Pretty close and have contacted them about prices as well, but waiting to hear back.

Has anyone been to or have dealt with these gyms before? I’m planning on making a choice soon and want to make this the year that I get back in shape.
