I ride by myself, (no one to slow me down,… about 25 miles)… with my daughter (GOOD pace, but not the lone ranger pace,.. about 18 miles) and with my wife (decent pace,.. more for enjoyment …about 12 miles). I try to ride about 5 times a week, but weather has been a @#$%^ lately (two solid weeks of cold rain). I ride a rail trail that is funded by a local corporation (they fund about 300 miles of trail). One trail will have a 100 mile round trip (paved) after they pave the last six miles in the spring. I am gearing up for a century ride to celebrate 60. I haven’t done that since 1995. My daughter wants to go with me. My original inquiry was in preparation for next year as I plan to really ramp up my riding. The 94 Bonk was on my mind. Things have changed a lot since 95 (my last century ride)……more information…shared information!Sixty Fiver,… Thanx for the recipe. I will give it a go…
Sounds like you came to the right place: “Training and Nutrition” — as you will need both…
… But that’s as far I can go because I, like you do ‘short, frequent’ rides, but not long ones. In my opinion, you and your daughter will both need to train up for the century — not only to get your body in shape, but to learn how to pace yourself (although you may already know that part). And, THEN, you get to the nutrition part…I think there are other people here who can help you far more than I… But I do think you will need both..
