Labral tear – Hip/groin
Hi everyone,
Was wondering if anyone has had any experience (or just knowledge) of a labral tear.
So here’s my situation. I play Australian Football during the winter here, so 1 match, 1 training session and I do 1 personal running session, per week. Have had some groin pain for about a month when running which is a gradual onset, not a sudden sharp pain. It is a moderate pain which usually only let’s me work at about 75% of my capabilities. The next day is the worst though where I have lots of pain in basic activities like getting in or out of my car.
So I got an ultrasound to rule out a hernia, which we did. They believe that it is most likely a labral tear. So I am booked in to have an MRI in about 4-5 weeks time. Now my question is, will it be dangerous if I continue running for the next few weeks and push through the pain? After the MRI and diagnosis, I’m happy to do what the specialist says.
If I continue to run and it makes the tear worse, will that affect anything in 4 weeks time? Or does it increase chances of future serious complications arising?
Thanks
