Welcome to Reason for Being
I decided to launch this website to support others who may be going through a journey similar to mine: I was a caregiver to my mother after her stroke for 15 years. During that time, I took up endurance racing both distant running (marathons) and triathlons. The physical challenged helped distract and balance my brain during a challenging time.
What I share in this site includes articles, interviews, and a blog. The articles are based on the weekly newsletter I sent out to my team when I was a volunteer running coach for the American Heart Association.

As a documentary producer and former journalist, I put my interview skills to good use for this project. The interviews are with regular people who also made a commitment to their own health, often in response to some sort of crisis like witnessing a loved one’s demise.
And the blog consists of various contributors writing about different health-related topics.
I hope the contents can help get you through your training and upcoming race.
